Whether uplifting and anthemic, dark and contemplative, or somewhere in between, Landsky’s unwillingness to be pigeonholed has taken him to the uppermost echelons of Berlin’s club scene and nowadays he regularly graces the DJ booths of world renowned clubs like Watergate and Fabric, with sets that nod to the legacy of Front Club, maintaining its deft balance of escapism and musical discovery.

Delusions Of Grandeur have had an exceptional couple of years since their inception in 2009 with fourteen vinyl 12’s from a host of producers helping to put them at the top of the pile of underground labels making house music for discerning ears. It was only a matter of time before the label took the logical next-step into artist albums and here they are with the debut LP from 6th Borough Project entitled One Night In The Borough. It’s more than likely that you’ve come across 6th Borough releases or edits on labels such as Instruments Of Rapture, Jisco or Permanent Vacation as well as having kick started the whole thing off here at Delusions Of Grandeur with their release The Soul Part II (under the aka Craig Smith & The Revenge). It’s also more than likely you’ve been in some late night establishment whilst The Revenge provided musical accompaniment on his record players seeing as he is one of the most in demand DJ’s playing underground house and disco on the scene right now.

The duo release their debut LP on Delusions of Grandeur on 9th May (Limited Triple Coloured Vinyl + CD) and 6th June (Digital).

The irreverent heirs of Lee Scratch Perry, brought up from an early age on the most rootsy rock steady, High Tone's universe has expanded over the last ten years, mixing strings, percussions and samples, to become a fully blossomed reference on the French dub scene. Rather than machine-based blending, the five Tones opt for a choice of live guitars / bass / drums / DJ / keyboards, in order to provide their sound with an organic texture.

High Tone have embedded their dub with sonic distortions, hip-hop gimmicks, down tempo rhythms, creating a wholly original sound. The five Lyon lads take the listener on a vivid trip, a bizarre interface between tradition and modernity.

The Mole
Dance music fans in Victoria and Vancouver in the 90s heard a lot of The Mole in his infancy. His mentors, believing he had a natural talent, pushed him from his DJ beginnings into music production. This natural talent was, in reality, mountains of hard work consummated in secret not unlike the rigorous discipline kung fu students undertake in those wonderful bamboo forests. For The Mole though this retreat took the form of long winters in the French and arguably the cultural capital of Canada, Montreal.

Deadbeat
Deadbeat is one Scott Monteith, a long time Montrealer and recent Berlin ex-pat who has been releasing his own special blend of dub laden, minimal electronics since 2000, for labels such as Cynosure, Musique Risquee, Scape, and Spectral to name but a few. His work has been met with consistent critical acclaim from the industry's leading publications and websites, and drawn regular performance invitations for some of the world's most respected festivals, including Barcelona's Sonar, Berlin's Transmediale, and Montreal's own MUTEK.

Mike Shannon
It's been 10 years since Mike Shannon started making a name for himself on the international techno scene as a DJ, producer and label owner. Now, having relocated to Berlin from Valencia via Montreal in 2007 he's about to crown his first decade of active service with "Memory Tree", his third full length to date, and his debut for another notable Canadian export - Richie Hawtin's Plus 8 Records. Over the years, Mike has well proven that it's not just his music that makes him such a valuable asset to the techno community, it's his total dedication to the cause.

dreams we cherish have a secondary nature in the
sense that we lose them over time or consciously let
them go. Other dreams, in contrast, though only very
few, may get lost again and again in the hustle and bustle
of our daily lives but re-emerge as soon as the right
kind of light rays hit them. They are too existential to
ever be abandoned completely.
Ambient “Übervater” Amir Abadi aka Dr. Atmo had a
dream that falls in this very category: a music project
that had been born twenty years and forty albums
earlier. More of a music lover than established producer
at the time, he was deeply impressed by “One World,
One Voice”, an album produced by Rupert Hine as a
“chain tape” including contributions from more than 150
musicians from across the globe. Dr. Atmo knew that
one day he would come up with his own interpretation
of this idea.
“One day” finally arrived about three years ago and the
double album “Eclectic” is now finally completed. The
right kind of light rays hit Dr. Atmo in the form of a building
project - an art complex that the full-time architect
redesigned in the heart of Berlin in 2007 - which brought
him frequently in contact with musicians. He invited nine
of them, from different genres but all international masters
in their own right, to play together under the name
“Lightz” and soon enough the group performed many
many times a 21/2 Hour Live show at Berlin’s ultrahip
club/restaurant “Rodeo’s” and change that place to
a wonderful dinner music night.
“Lightz” members include renowned German Dub
producer “Aldubb”, punk rock bassist “Beda”, percussion
legend and Achmed Subhy-trained Michael Metzler,
concert pianist and Bobby McFerrin student Johanna
Seiler (piano, vocals) as well as “Jah Seal” (Reggae
& MC), Nina Gerhard aka Laloba (Jazz, Experimental
Pop), Lani Moon and Ole Junge (R&B, Soul) as well as
our little “miss jones” Nuwella Love (Dancehall, Pop).
“Eclectic” combines natural and synthetic sounds as
easily and smoothly as the artists’ different individual
styles, carrying listeners away on a mind-expanding
journey to a distant universe - an enthralling mix that
can best be classified as ambient Electronica music.
And while Atmo in his capacity as basic loop provider
chooses a more trip-like approach intensified by
La loba’s “Deep Down” vocals that bring to mind
Portishead sounds, the cosmic dust is condensed on
CD2 into Sparkling lounge and jazz stars that derive
their luminosity from the vocal qualities of Nuwella Love
and Jah Seal. “Looking Forward” and “Never Too Late”
are only two of the album’s 30 highlights that are open to
various interpretations - though one would never guess
that they are the result of casual acquaintances.
“Eclectic” by “Atmo & The Lightz” proves most
impressively that mixing modern production techniques
and traditional instruments can produce some amazing
results.
